Great content, many thanks to the writer. It truly is incomprehensive in my opinion right now, but in general, the convenience and valuation is mind-boggling. Appreciate it and all the best …

When I open your web blog from Opera I don’t see the comments container, but it works out of Firefox. I think you need to fix that

@equalman – agree with your view on finding what friends have purchased and do that.

My response was in terms of the wording “that we like to be pushed”, that I may have misinterpreted

@Oscar agree with you absolutely. My issue is that more and more I’m getting things shoved at me (spam) via Twitter that I’ve never given permission to, same happening via FB and Skype.

This causes unnecessary “noise” that’s getting in the way of real conversations I may want to have.

      Andrew:

Thanks – seems like we are on the same page. Good callout to be careful of using the word “push” as it has negative associations. Have a great weekend.

@Andrew, I doubt it. I think more and more of this “mail/spam” as you call it is actually an issue with permissions.
See Seth Godin’s view on “permission” vs “spam”.

You are most likely getting that “stuff” because you chose to get it. In twitter, *you* follow somebody, *you* ask for updates. Case in point, this website has a “notify me of follow up comments” option. I chose to get these updates.

With the same choice, comes the power to turn it off. Some people want that stuff some people don’t and they don’t have to get it. I think this is where these new channels will succeed. If you want it, come and get it, and participate. If you don’t then… don’t.

“People want to be pushed products and services just like we are pushed the news.”

Sounds like junk mail/spam to me.

I’m sick of interruption advertising and emails “demanding” I respond immediately and I’m getting sick of the same via Twitter.

Could this be the demise of this app?

      Andrew:

Thanks for the comments. Products and services finding us is great. What I discuss in the book is that in the near future if you have to buy a baby seat and you are a first time buyer…a bit daunting having to search, research, check through opaque reviews and ratings. What will happen is you will be given the following insight (think search within Facebook): 40 of your friends have purchased a baby seat in the last 2 years. 20 purchased the same make and model and here are all of their reviews (95% positive). What a time and stress saver! The consumer wins and the brand delivering the best value wins. This will help element the noise you hate (junk mail/spam). That is why it’s a REVOLUTION! Welcome to the world of Socialnomics!

Thanks again for the interest/support! Have a great weekend.

I agree on with this. ” Losing such a spirited brand as Yahoo would be a sad day.” It seems possible I guess, but hard to imagine. As you say, we can’t say how this will play out but it will be very interesting to watch.

I like the insights you provide in this article.

I think Google is definitely working on social media, Wave, I think, is incredibly promising. They already have more than a foot in, They have Youtube, (video isn’t going away), Orkut, Reader, All of these team up to a huge userbase and loyal return customers.

Just as Gmail became prevalent and as popular as it is now, “Wave” could be huge, it could redefine many conventions we have today in regards to communication systems. Its possibilities are endless.
